Privacy Policy

VedaLingo (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a Sanskrit learning app for iOS, Android, and the web. We believe in minimal data collection and maximum transparency. This policy describes how we handle your information.

1. Information We Collect

Data stored on your device only:

• Your chosen age group, name (optional), and learning goal — entered during onboarding
• Your learning progress: completed chapters, XP points, streak count, completed quizzes
• Your app theme preference (light / dark)
• A “daily wisdom” cache entry to avoid repeat API calls the same day

All of the above is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage (web) or app storage (Android). We do not maintain user accounts and do not store any of this data on our servers.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

• Your real name, email address, phone number, or government ID
• Location data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Browsing history or cross-app activity
• Payment information (no payments are processed in-app at this time)

3. AI-Powered Features

Some features (Sanskrit Name Finder, Śloka Forge, Grammar Doubt, Story Ask, Sentence Analysis, and others) use the Groq API(powered by Llama 3.3) to generate responses. When you use these features, the text of your query (for example, a Sanskrit sentence you submit for analysis, or your name input for the Name Finder) is sent to Groq's servers to generate a response.

We do not include any personally identifying information in these API calls beyond the content you intentionally type. Groq's handling of API data is governed by Groq's Privacy Policy.

4. Analytics & Tracking

The web version of VedaLingo uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage statistics — such as which pages are visited and how long they are viewed. This helps us understand how learners use the app so we can improve it.

Google Analytics may set cookies in your browser. No personally identifying information (name, email, etc.) is ever sent to Google Analytics. Google's data practices are described in Google's Privacy Policy.

The Android app does not include any analytics or tracking SDK.

5. Children's Privacy

VedaLingo includes content designed for children aged 7 and above (“Little Sages” track). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since no account creation is required and no personal data is transmitted to our servers, the app is safe for children to use under parental supervision.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as we add new features (such as user accounts or payment processing). The “last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes.
