विधवा या पुनर्विवाहं न कृतवती

सरलता सर्वोत्तमः आभूषणः।
Saralatā sarvoттamaḥ ābhūṣaṇaḥ.
“Simplicity is the greatest ornament.”
White and Only White
खण्डेरावः गतः — अहिल्या सर्वालंकारान् त्यक्तवती। श्वेतवस्त्राणि — प्रतिदिनं, सर्वदा। सा अवदत् — "भूषणं मम धर्मः। रत्नानि मम जनाः।" सरलं शयनम्, सरलं भोजनम्, सरलः आचारः। तपस्विन्याः जीवनम् — परन्तु सामर्थ्यं महाराज्ञ्याः।
Khanderao was gone — Ahilya gave up all jewellery and adornments. White garments — every day, always. She said — "My ornament is dharma. My jewels are my people." Simple sleeping, simple eating, simple conduct. The life of a tapasvinī (तपस्विनी — one who practices austerity) — but the authority of a queen.
