The Sword at Her Side

अहिल्या दरबारे सदा खड्गधारिणी। जनाः विस्मिताः — "राज्ञी खड्गं वहति? अपूर्वम्।" अहिल्या अवदत् — "खड्गः धर्मस्य प्रतीकः। यः न्यायं करोति, तेन रक्षणशक्तिः अपेक्षिता। मम राज्यं, मम रक्षणदायित्वम्।"

Ahilya always carried a sword in court. People were astonished — "The queen carries a sword? Unprecedented!" Ahilya said — "The sword is a symbol of dharma. One who delivers justice needs the power to protect it. My kingdom, my responsibility to defend it."
