A Letter to the Peshwa

कलमस्य बलं खड्गात् अधिकम्।
Kalamasya balaṃ khaḍgāt adhikam.

The Peshwa's Letter
मल्हाररावस्य मृत्योः अनन्तरं, पेशवा माधवरावः। तेन अहिल्यायाः पत्रम् आगतम् — "होल्करराज्यं मराठासंघस्य अधीनम् आयातु। मम सेनापतिः मालवायाः शासनं करिष्यति।" अहिल्या पत्रं पठित्वा — शान्ता अतिष्ठत्।
After Malhar Rao's death, Peshwa Madhavrao's letter arrived. He wrote to Ahilya — "Let the Holkar kingdom come under the Maratha federation. My general will administer Malwa." Ahilya read the letter — and remained calm.
