भरतः पादुके च

Bharata Returns to Grief
भरतः मातुलगृहात् अयोध्याम् आगच्छत्। नगरम् निःशब्दम् आसीत्। सः श्रुतवान् — "पिता मृतः, रामः वनम् गतः।" भरतः महाशोकेन रोदितुम् आरब्धः। "मातः! इदं किं कृतवती?"
Bharata came to Ayodhyā from his maternal uncle's house. The city was silent. He heard — "Your father has died; Rāma has gone to the forest." Bharata, overcome with great grief, began to weep. "Mother! What have you done?"
