The Foolish Brahmin and the Three Rogues

The Brahmin's Gift
एकः ब्राह्मणः आसीत्। तस्य नाम मित्रशर्मा। एकदा एकः यजमानः तस्मै अजां अददात्। ब्राह्मणः प्रसन्नः अभवत्। सः अजां स्कन्धे कृत्वा गृहं गच्छति स्म। त्रयः धूर्ताः तं दृष्ट्वा अचिन्तयन् — "एषा अजा अस्माकं भवेत्!"
There was a brahmin. His name was Mitrasharma. One day a patron gave him a goat as a gift. The brahmin became happy. He put the goat on his shoulder and was going home. Three rogues saw him and thought — "Let this goat become ours!"
