बकः कर्कटः च

वञ्चकस्य वञ्चना — कदाचित् स्वयं भवति।

The Clever Heron
एकः वृद्धः बकः सरसि वसति। सः मत्स्यान् खादितुं शक्तः न। सः चिन्तयति — कः उपायः अस्ति? एकं मिथ्यां सः कथयति।
An old heron lived by a pond. He was too weak to catch fish. He thought: "What is the plan?" And so he decided to tell a lie.
