The Proposal from Jhansi
झाँसीराज्यस्य महाराजः गङ्गाधरराव-नेवालकरः प्रसिद्धः, धार्मिकः च आसीत्। तस्य दूतः बिठूरम् आगत्य मोरोपन्तम् अवदत् — "महाराजः तव पुत्रीं विवाहयितुम् इच्छति।" मोरोपन्तः सम्मतिम् अयच्छत्। मनु स्वयम् अचिन्तयत् — "झाँसी मम गृहम् भविष्यति!"
The Maharaja of the state of Jhansi, Gangadhar Rao Newalkar, was famous and righteous. His messenger came to Bithur and told Moropant — "The Maharaja wishes to marry your daughter." Moropant gave his consent. Manu herself thought — "Jhansi will be my home!"
