मृत्युः वीरस्य अन्तः नास्ति — कीर्तिः अमरा।
Mṛtyuḥ vīrasya antaḥ nāsti — kīrtiḥ amarā.
“Death is not the end of a warrior — glory is immortal.”
The British Return to Gwalior
जून १७ वर्षे १८५८ — रोज़ः ग्वालियरम् महासेनया आगतः। लक्ष्मीबाई फूलबाग-क्षेत्रे सैनिकान् व्यूहयत्। युद्धम् तीव्रम् अभवत् — उभयपक्षे साहसम् अतुलम्। राज्ञी स्वयं अश्वारोह्य शत्रोः अभिमुखम् अगात्। तस्याः सैनिकाः एकस्वरेण अवदन् — "राज्ञ्याः साथे!"
On June 17, 1858 — Rose came to Gwalior with a great army. Lakshmibai deployed her soldiers in the Phoolbagh area. The battle was fierce — extraordinary courage on both sides. The queen herself, mounting her horse, went towards the enemy. Her soldiers spoke with one voice — "With the queen!"
