Duryodhana's Dark Plan
पाण्डवाः सर्वत्र प्रसिद्धाः अभवन्। जनाः तान् प्रशंसन्ति स्म — विशेषतः युधिष्ठिरम्। दुर्योधनः ईर्षया जलित्वा षड्यन्त्रम् अकरोत्। सः पुरोचनम् नाम कञ्चन दूतम् प्रेषयत्। "वाराणवते एकं गृहम् निर्माणं कुरु — लाक्षया — जतुना। पाण्डवाः तत्र निवासं कुर्युः — ततः गृहम् दहेः।" इति सः उक्तवान्।
The Pandavas had become famous everywhere. People praised them greatly — especially Yudhishthira. Duryodhana, burning with envy, hatched a conspiracy. He sent a messenger named Purochana. "In Varanavata, build a house — from lac, from wax. Let the Pandavas stay there — then burn it down," he commanded.
