भयम् बुद्धिं हरति — बुद्धिः भयम् हरति।

bhayam buddhiṃ harati — buddhiḥ bhayam harati.

Fear steals wisdom — and wisdom steals fear

The Fearful Rumor

नगरे एकः अपवादः आसीत्। "पुरातनमन्दिरे भूतः वसति।" जनाः भयेन मन्दिरं न गच्छन्ति। रात्रौ कोपि मन्दिरसमीपे न तिष्ठति। राजा चिन्तितः जातः।

In the city there was a rumor. "A ghost lives in the old temple." People do not go to the temple because of fear. At night no one stands near the temple. The king became worried.
